Sri Lanka - Hasthikuchchi


Hasthikuchchi is the ruined ancient temple complex which is situated on the border of of the North Western Province, Sri Lanka.
Directions: Colombo – KurunegalaKurunegalaPuttalam Road – Padeniya Junction – 40 Kmtrs. Galgamuwa – 5 Kmtrs. Mahagalkadawala Junction – 3.5 Kmtrs. Hasthikuchchi
Within this temple complex there are many ruins of circular relic house, chapter house, dagabas, image house, alms hall and many other unidentified edifices. Sri Lankans believed that this is the place the righteous king Siri Sangabo donated his head to a poor man.
The Temple complex is considered to have been built by King Devanampiyatissa and one of the oldest Buddhist temple complexes in the country.
