Kaudulla National Park
Kaudulla is the youngest National Wildlife Park in Sri Lanka. It is opened in 2002. This park is located at the ancient Kaudulla Tank and 6 Kmtrs. off to the Habarana Trincomalee. The Park has 6656 hectares Elephant Corridor between Somavathiya Chaitiya and Minneriya National Park. Kaudulla National Park (KNP) consists of a many splendored landscape and offers visitors scenic beauty and diverse wildlife on an idyllic wetland setting with a view of elephants almost always guaranteed.
The park is popular for Wildlife safari and Catamaran ride on the Kaudulla Tank is one of the interesting features within the park. The most interesting thing is anybody can see many elephants at very close within the park.
Kaudulla National Park is home to approximately 250 Elephants. Not only that Leopard, Fishing cat, Sloth bear, Sambar deer, and the endangered Rusty spotted cat can be seen in the Park.
The period between August and December is the best for visit Kaudulla. You can be visited there on a jeep safari from Dambulla,
Sigiriya, Habarana and Polonnaruwa.
